The Journey of Becoming

Over the holidays, my sister and I spent an evening going through tons of old photo albums of my parents and of us growing up. I couldn’t help but think how much things have changed and how much we have grown. Looking back to one year ago, five years ago, and especially ten years ago— I am not even remotely close to the person I was at each of those points in time. But this isn’t about me having a moment of introspection. It’s to say that personal style is an evolution and a lifelong journey— just like the way we change and evolve as people, our wardrobe follows suit.

Let’s go back to circa 2012. Remember those big, chunky pastel statement necklaces? While they would not be found anywhere remotely close to my wardrobe today, I felt like a powerhouse of a woman at 14 anytime I had one on. And that’s what I love about personal style— it’s a reflection of who we are, where we’ve been, and where we’re going. It’s never static. So, embrace the journey of becoming and all the lies ahead because the beautiful thing about fashion is that it will always grow with us.
